Basil led them to a nearby room and waved toward the door. "It's through there. I'm still rather unsteady, so I'd best wait here."

The Illumineers peered through the door. A twenty-foot hourglass dominated the chamber, guarded by an enormous metal scorpion whose tail was half that height. Inside the lower half of the hourglass, surrounded by rising sand, they could make out the green-clad shape of a familiar owl.

"Archazia!" Shanzay gasped.
